Metabolism of the host-selective toxins destruxin B and homodestruxin B: Probing a plant disease resistance trait.

Metabolism of the host selective toxins destruxin B and homodestruxin B by plants resistant and susceptible to Alternaria blackspot was established using synthetic radiolabelled compunds.  The toxin are transformed into the less phytotoxic hydroxydestruxins.  Effcients syntheses of the four compounds are described.
