Determination of aflatoxins in food by overpressured – layer chromatography.

Methods for the analysis of aflatoxins in fish, corn and wheat using overpressuredlayer chromatography (OPLC) are described. Using OPLC, 10 samples could be analysed simultaneously. Quantitative evaluation of aflatoxins was accomplished by densitometry. Average recoveries from each food spiked with aflatoxins at 2-10 mg/kg were greater than 73%. The OPLC technique seems to be a rapid, reproducible and cost effective analysis for quantitative deter mination of aflatoxins in foods.
