A review with 52 references. OA contamination of commodities such as cereals or pork and poultry meat is well recognised. OA has now been reported in a range of food commoditis including coffee, wine, beer and milk, OA was believed to be prodeced only by Aspergillus ochraceus and closely related species of section Circumdati and by Penicillium verrucosum. However, OA has now been clearly established as a metabolite of different species of the Aspergillus section Nigri, such as A. niger and A. carbonarius.
