Determination of controlled atmosphere storage conditions for '0900 Ziraat' sweet cherry fruit

The aim of this research was to determine the effects of combinations of low O2 and high CO2 in the storage atmosphere o­n the storage quality of ‘0900 Ziraat’ sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.). The fruit were placed in six different %CO2:%O2 atmosphere combinations (0:21 [control], 5:5, 10:5, 15:5, 20:5, 25:5) at 0±0.5°C and 90±5% relative humidity for up to 60 days. The fruit was stored more successfully in 20:5 and 25:5 treatments than in other treatments. Accordingly, it is recommended that the levels of CO2 for the storage of ‘0900 Ziraat’ should be increased above 15% in CA storage.
