Colletotrichum species associated with cherimoya and other hosts.
Colletotrichumspecies on chirimoya (Annona cherimolaMill.), ilama (Annona diversifoliaSaff.), and blackberry (Rubussp.) were identified at several sites from Guerrero,Mexico, and Michoacan states, and studied by PCR analysis of the ITS region of rRNA genes. In potato-dextrose-agar and potato-carrot-agar growth media, eightColletotrichumisolates were selected and identified by asexual and sexual structures, and cultural characteristics. Four species were identified,C. acutatum(EU016517) on mummified blackberry fruits,C. fragariae(AY841137, AY605089) on ilama fruits with anthracnose; this specie plusC. gloeosporioides(AY841132, AY841134, AY841135, AY841136) and its teleomorfGlomerella cingulata, andC. orbiculare(AY841133) on fruits and leaves of cherimoya with anthracnose, stem-end rot, and black spot.
