Comparison of thyme extract with fungicide on mold of marsh grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) and Washington navel oranges (C. sinensis) in controlled atmosphere condition

Pathogens are the most important factors including postharvest losses. Non-alcoholic methods such as carbonic acid medicinal plant extracts for preventing postharvest diseases are recommended. Investigation was conducted as a CRD with 4 replications. Application of pure thyme extract reduced the decay percentage of Marsh grapefruit 93% (control) to 2% and 8% respectively. Even though, it was 82% to 12% in Washingtonnavel orange. Also the effect of fungicide was excellent in same condition, but we don’t know more about the side effects of these products about human health.
