An experiment was conducted to extend the shelf life of papaya fruits. The fruits were dipped in various concentrations of borneol solutions at 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75% with different duration viz., 10, 20, and 30 min and kept at room temperature. The treated fruits were observed for physiological changes such as loss of fruit weight (%), percentage of ripening (visual appearance), percentage of decayed fruit, firmness, shelf life and organoleptic evaluation. The data revealed that post harvest dipping of papaya fruits in borneol solution at 0.75% for 30 min could extend the shelf life up to 7 days without any decline in fruit quality.
