Rabbit-eye blueberries (Vaccinium ashei 'Premier' and 'Climax') and highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum 'Sharpe Blue') were infested artificially with immature life stages of Queensland fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt), and stored at 1.0 +/- 0.2 degrees C. Dose-mortality data from infested fruit held in cold storage for up to 12 d showed that the 1st instar of B. tryoni in blueberries was the most treatment-tolerant life stage. Of more than 100,000 first instars infesting blueberries, none survived to pupation alter storage at 1 degree C for 12 d.
