บทคัดย่อ

Integrated apple production in South Tyrol.

The skilled grower in South Tyrol, Italy, can produce good quality apples economically without risk to the environment, operator or consumer. The Advisory Service for Fruit- and Wine-growing in South Tyrol is currently promoting integrated fruit production programmes in the region and a set of guidelines for growers has been published. Growers have been encouraged to enrol a small part of their holding in a certificated scheme. A central control system of 6 inspectors has been set up who periodically check orchards using this system and they sample grass, leaves and fruit to check for spray residues, as well as checking orchard field books. Problems exist with orchards containing Red Delicious, Rome Beauty, Winesap or Granny Smith as the usual postharvest scald treatment with diphenylamine or ethoxyquin are not allowed in the programme and alternatives such as ultra low oxygen atmosphere storage are being investigated.
