The types of measures described include regulations on minimum animal wastes storage requirements for intensive livestock enterprises, restrictions on the spreading of liquid and solid manures, the requirement that arable land have a postharvest green crop to absorb surplus nitrates, measures to compel larger farmers to plan and reduce fertilizer applications, a possible tax on nitrogen fertilizers, controls on the use of pesticides and encouragement of biological farming methods.
