บทคัดย่อ

Research on bananas and plantains at the Institute of Research on Fruits and Citrus. Current situation and international context.

Research programmes on bananas and plantains organised by IRFA/CIRAD, in conjunction with other organizations, in France, the French West Indies, the Ivory Coast and Cameroon and, since 1987, in Panama, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Morocco, Belgium, Spain, UK, Nigeria, Rwanda, Brazil, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines, mainly in association with INIBAP (International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain), are described. Programmes cover genetic improvement, in vitro micropropagation, control of Mycosphaerella spp., Fusarium oxysporum var. cubensis, bacterial wilt, bunchy top virus, mosaic viruses, Cosmopolites sordidus and nematodes, cultivation methods and postharvest crop treatment.
