The first section (pp. 17-199) of this comprehensive book on pot plant production contains 15 chapters on general topics, such as marketing pot plants in Europe; pot plant producing areas of Spain (including Canary Islands); climatic requirements for pot plant production; greenhouses and other systems of protected cultivation; management structures and planning of operations; mechanization; environmental (light, temperature, RH, CO2) effects on plant growth; substrates and containers; irrigation and fertilization; plant propagation; growth regulator application; postharvest handling and transport; and pest and disease diagnosis and control. The second section (pp. 201-647) contains more detailed information on the botanical characteristics and cultural requirements of individual species. The species are grouped by family (71 families in total), with the exception of 3 chapters dedicated to bedding plants, carnivorous plants and ferns, which each cover species in a number of families. In addition to the well known species grown as pot plants, lesser known species such as Canarina canariensis, Leea amabilis, L. coccinea, Nertera granadensis, Nierembergia hippomanica, Pisonia umbellifera and Smithiantha zebrina are also included.
