บทคัดย่อ

Economic evaluation of post-harvest maize loss in Brazil.

The value of losses of traded maize was evaluated and related to the aggregate value of losses of a group of 20 agricultural products in Brazil, in 1980-87. The products were divided into 3 groups (grains, fruits and vegetables). The percentage of losses was applied to the value of production by product and year to obtain the value of the losses. In all years maize was the product which presented largest loss values. On average, the value of maize losses was close to 25% of the aggregate value of the losses of other products. The value of the losses is given, in Brazilian currency, for all products, and in $ for maize.
