บทคัดย่อ

The effect of mulching and postharvest defoliation on the growth and cropping of strawberries.

The effects of the 2 treatments were studied between 1980 and 1983 with cv. Senga Sengana plants grown in double rows (80 + 50 + 80 x 25 cm). The leaves were mown 10 days after harvest in the 2nd and 3rd years and/or the plants were mulched with straw at flowering, starting in the second year. Mulching reduced weed infestation and resulted in cleaner fruits, but the slight increase in commercial yield was not significant. Leaf mowing after each harvest had no significant effect on yield.
