Feijoa fruits (cultivars Mammoth and Triumph) were analysed at harvest and after 21 and 42 days' storage at 0 or 4 deg C, followed by 10 days at 18 deg for fruit colour, firmness, soluble solids, titratable acidity and percentage decay. During cold storage Mammoth fruits showed no change in firmness; however, during the 10 days of shelf-life, softening occurred, particularly in fruits stored at 4 deg . Triumph fruits showed no difference in softening when stored at 0 or 4 deg . Soluble solids decreased during the shelf-life period in Mammoth fruits. Titratable acidity decreased in both cultivars during the shelf-life period except after 42 days of storage at 0 deg C. Percentage decay [pathogen unspecified] at the end of the shelf-life period was higher in fruits stored at 0 deg than at 4 deg and was higher in Mammoth fruits than in Triumph fruits (38.18% vs. 18.84% after 42 days' storage at 0 deg ).
