บทคัดย่อ

The effectiveness of growth retardants in strawberries.

Experiments with 3 retardants to reduce runner growth and increase yields in 5 cultivars are reported. Alar [daminozide] at 0.1%, MH at 0.5% and Tur [chlormequat] at 0.6% did not differ markedly in their effectiveness in increasing yields. For commercial plantations, 2-3 postharvest applications of chlormequat at 2-weekly intervals are recommended; new plantings should be sprayed at the start of mass runner formation, and nursery beds during mass runner formation, rooting of the rosettes and appearance of secondary runners.
