บทคัดย่อ

Agro technology with respect to quality control of essential oils.

The formation and physiological functions of essential oils, which are classified as secondary metabolites, are discussed. The yield and quality of essential oil produced depends on various intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic factors comprise all internal hereditary characteristics and are not discussed further. The extrinsic factors affecting the production of essential oil in plants are described in detail. These are soil, nutrition and water supply, climate (light/temperature), maturity, postharvest treatment and distillation.
