Annual report of the Swiss Viticulture Association for 1990, Part 1.

Major changes affecting Swiss viticulture in 1990 included: the rejection of the viticulture agreement in the Federal referendum; the Swiss proposals for agriculture in the GATT negotiations; the increasing, ill-informed criticism of agricultural policy; the first adjustment of the harvest to market possibilities and limiting of production in the Unterland kantons; the raising of minimum quality standards in the Unterland and the exceptionally good quality of the 1990 vintage. Part 1 describes production and yields in the different growing areas, market trends, prices and production costs, consumption, stocks, and the postharvest market balance for various types of wine.
