บทคัดย่อ

Asparagus production in the tropics.

There is an increasing worldwide demand for asparagus (mainly the fresh product). In temperate climates, it is only possible to produce asparagus in the late spring and early summer, providing an opportunity for producers in the tropics to supply the product during the rest of the year. Production in humid, arid or high altitude tropical areas is discussed; examples of production in the deserts of the USA and Peru are described. Two different production systems are suggested, along with the postharvest techniques required to maintain quality during export.
