The effect of homeopathic drugs on pathogens causing postharvest diseases of apple, banana, guava, mango and tomato fruits (Alternaria alternata, Fusarium roseum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata], Gloeosporium psidii, Pestalotia mangiferae and P. [Pestalotiopsis] psidii) was investigated. In in vitro tests, the permeability of the spore membranes increased slowly with time and then became stationary. This increase in permeability happened faster following most of the drug treatments, although the degree of change varied with drugs, concn and pathogen. A significant correlation between inhibition of spore germination and the degree of change in permeability was observed.
