Managing epiphytic microorganisms on harvested fruits and vegetables to extend storage- and shelf-life.

This brief review discusses the microecology of fruit and vegetable surfaces, artificial introduction of antagonistic micro-organisms to control postharvest diseases and the genetic control of epiphytic micro-organisms by breeding or selection of the host.
