The results of investigations conducted by various Italian institutions to prevent postharvest infectious diseases (including control of Gloeosporium album [Pezicula alba] on apples, Rhizopus nigricans [R. stolonifer] on stone fruits, Mucor piriformis on stone and pome fruits and Botrytis cinerea on kiwifruits) and postharvest physiological disorders of apple, peach, plum and citrus cultivars are summarized. This paper was presented at the congress on Innovative technology in the field of orchard fruit growing, held at Mac-Frut, Cesena, Italy on 28 Apr. 1988.
