In trials with several controlled atmospheres (CA) against Quadraspidiotius perniciosus on stored apples, complete elimination of infestation was achieved by storing infested fruit in regular CA (2.6-3.0% O2 & 2.4-2.5% CO2) or low-oxygen CA (1.5-1.7% O2 & 1.0-1.1% CO2) storage rooms at 1 or 3 deg C for 31-34 weeks, plus an additional week at 20 deg C and 50-60% RH.
