บทคัดย่อ

Auger metering of corn for fungicide application.

The effect of various design parameters on the flow rate of maize with a range of m.c. was investigated. Parameters studied included auger speed, type of auger screw, inlet length, vertical metering, and addition of oil to the maize. The best configuration for an auger for metering maize for a fungicide applicator was the standard pitch screw with the long inlet opening. Flow rate of maize having m.c. ranging from 15.5% to 25% varied less than 7.5% with this arrangement. Use of a vertical metering auger did not improve flow rate variation for maize having varying m.c. as compared to the standard screw configuration. The application of oil had no benefit in metering maize in an auger.
