An entomological assessment of Thai maize in storage was conducted in relation to A. flavus and aflatoxin contamination and association of stored-product insects. The pattern of insect infestation and A. flavus contamination showed strong correlation to high densities of weevils (Sitophilus zeamais) (live or dead) and other secondary species. Fumigations when weevil populations were high produced many cadavers on which A. flavus propagated supplying great quantities of inoculum. It is concluded that training in sanitation and pest control are needed and a training approach is suggested.
