บทคัดย่อ

The Australian asparagus industry. A report on the findings from the Australian asparagus industry workshop held in Wagga Wagga, August 1992.

The workshop, hosted by New South Wales Agriculture in Wagga Wagga in Aug. 1992, was aimed at growers, processors, researchers, advisers, consultants, exporters, agents, freight handlers, seedsmen, nurserymen and others with an investment in the Asparagus industry. This report summarizes the decisions on the following subjects: the botany of asparagus; Asparagus cultivars in Australia; a global perspective of Asparagus production; advances in postharvest handling; nutrition and irrigation; tropical production; super males and clones; mechanical harvesting; organic production; domestic marketing; processing in Australia; and point-of-sale viewpoint. Possible future directions for the industry are outlined.
