Aubergine fruits were harvested at 05.00, 08.00 and 11.00 h when the air temperature was 21, 27 and 32 deg C, respectively, and RH was 94, 72 and 55%, respectively. Fruits from each harvest were stored at 12, 18 or 24 plus or minus 2 deg for up to 10 days. The half-cooling time for fruits harvested at 11.00 h and held at 12 deg was 46 minutes. All fruits harvested at the 3 different times and held at 12 deg maintained good quality for 10 days. Fruits harvested at 05.00 h rather than later showed less deterioration even when held at the 2 higher temperatures. Fruit weight loss was least (12%) in batches harvested at 05.00 h and held at 12 deg .
