บทคัดย่อ

Design of equipment for separating the prickles from prickly pears.

The physical and mechanical properties of the prickly pear were investigated to aid in the design of a device to mechanically remove the prickles, particularly from white prickly pear (Opuntia amyclaea). An experimental device was built which comprised a pair of rollers with bristles to separate the prickles from the pear. Parameters were determined for the rotational speed of the rollers, the spacing between the rollers, the type of bristle required and the angle of work.
