This paper provides a review of hot and cold treatments to control tephritids and other stored products pests of fruits and vegetables for quarantine purposes, under the headings quick-freezing, dry heat, vapour heat, hot air, hot water immersion and combination treatment. Temperature treatments against Anastrepha suspensa include exposure to water or air >43 deg C and exposure to cold (0-2.22 deg C). Temperature treatments used against other pests and plant pathogens are dry heat (>60 deg C) and quick freezing (-17 deg C or below).
