บทคัดย่อ

Thermal disinfestation of hay to eliminate possible contamination with Hessian fly (Mayetiola destructor (Say)).

Pupae of Mayetiola destructor, raised on young wheat plants and mixed with chopped hay, were heat-treated in a rotary drum. The air temperature in the machine was 60-65 deg C. Duration of temperature rise was 2-7 min. Total mortality of the insects was assured when the stems of the infected plants were heated to 58.0 deg C and maintained at this temperature for at least 3 min.
