Banana cv. Basrai plants were irrigated in furrows (at 50, 75 or 100 mm CPE) or by drip irrigation (wetting 40, 50, 60 or 70% of the area). Fruit TSS and total yellow pigments contents were lowest and total chlorophyll and vitamin C [ascorbic acid] contents were highest in the treatments irrigated by the furrow method at 75 mm CPE or by drip irrigation at the 60% level, indicating that these treatments could be used to retard ripening and extend postharvest life.
