บทคัดย่อ

Use of plastic in greenhouse vegetable production in the United States.

The growth in the use of plastics in greenhouse vegetable production (excluding glazing) is reviewed. These uses include mulching, lining troughs, containing soil and soilless media, and providing nutrient film channels. Irrigation systems have become very elaborate, with various plastic products used to transport water and nutrients and supply them to the crop. Plastic air distribution tubes, shade materials, and energy curtains maintain the greenhouse environment and plastics are also commonly used in crop training and support structures, insect traps and screens, and postharvest packaging.
