A series of experiments aimed at determining the potential of obtaining seed-quality grain in a microwave drying environment is described. Important equations describing the response of moist materials to microwave energy are introduced. The advantages and limitations of microwave technology for grain drying applications are put into perspective. Areas of future development of microwave and hybrid drying systems are suggested.
