ABSTRACT
Benomyl, captan, cyprex, Dithane M-45 [mancozeb] and cabox were evaluated at 4 concn (100, 250, 500 and 1000 p.p.m.) for control of postharvest rot of apples caused by P. expansum. In in vitro tests, the fungicides inhibited fungal growth at all concn tested, with 500 and 1000 p.p.m. of benomyl, cyprex and captan completely inhibiting growth. Dipping of fruits in the fungicides following inoculation with the pathogen, decreased the incidence of rot, the higher concn being more effective. Treatment with benomyl or cyprex at 1000 p.p.m. completely inhibited rotting.
