Mechanical injury and latent infections leading to postharvest decay.

ABSTRACT

Infections occurring before, during and after harvest of fruit and vegetables destined for the fresh market are briefly discussed and some notes are given on the further development of postharvest disease control technology. This paper was presented at a colloquium on management of postharvest disease resistance in horticultural crops held in Pennsylvania, USA on 23 Jul., 1991.
