ABSTRACT :
Egypt produces fruit and vegetables for both domestic consumption and export. The area of vegetables is double that of fruit. Total income from both represents about 30% of total agricultural income. The total export value for horticultural products is about one third of the total value of agricultural products. Fruit and vegetables are generally marketed by the private sector. Cooperatives could play a significant role in marketing these products, particularly in the area of finance.
