In this booklet for growers, the principles and methods of Papaver somniferum growing are discussed under the following main headings: biological and cultural characteristics including cultivars, seed treatment and nutrition; integrated pest, disease and weed control; harvesting; postharvest handling; and evaluation of mechanical damage.
