ABSTRACT :
The efficacy of boric acid and its mode of application was evaluated in comparison with organo-mercurial compounds for the control of Rhizoctonia solani. None of the treatments applied as a dip or spray affected germination but postharvest applications gave better (77.73%) germination and higher yields than pre-planting treatments. Dipping tubers in boric acid (3%) for 15-30 min and its application as a spray (4%) after harvest were most effective in reducing the recovery of diseased tubers.
