Notes on the bio-pathology and techniques of storage-transport of chestnut.

ABSTRACT :

 

Notes are given on the harvesting and maturation of chestnuts, and alterations observed during their storage in Italy. Damage to chestnuts is caused by Ciboria batskiana, Phoma endogena, Penicillium crustaceum, P. expansum, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium roseum, and by species of the curculionid Curculio and the tortricids Cydia and Pammene. Techniques for storing chestnuts are described.
