ABSTRACT :
Of 8 fungal isolates artificially inoculated at 0, 5 or 10 deg C, 5 could infect stored Chinese cabbage at 10 deg . Of these, Alternaria brassicicola, Colletotrichum higginsianum and Botrytis cinerea could sporulate at 0-5 deg , while A. brassicae and A. raphani could only sporulate at 10 deg . Since the storage areas were maintained at
less or equal
5 deg , only fungi sporulating at the lower temp. were able to increase in the cellars. It is concluded that temp. control in the cellars plays an important role in the inhibition of storage fungi.
