Performance of closed pneumatic system with cylindrical fan in machines for cleaning grain and seeds.

ABSTRACT :

 

The construction and performance of the MPO-50 commercial grain cleaner were analysed to reduce grain losses and to improve the unsatisfactory output and cleaning, particularly at higher grain moisture and impurity contents. A number of design modifications were introduced, including the use of a cylindrical fan. Regression models were developed for the separation of impurities from various cereal grains, which describe the cleaning effectiveness and grain losses based on the output, rate of air flow and parameters of the pneumatic duct, feeding device and collecting chamber. The output of the modified cleaner increased by 10-30% with energy consumption of the driving fan reduced by 15-20%.
