ABSTRACT :
The use of sodium and potassium bicarbonates, horticultural oil and surfactant solution reduced the incidence of L. taurica mildew on plant foliage and Alternaria alternata on harvested Capsicum fruits compared with untreated controls. Potassium and sodium bicarbonate solution (0.5%) gave consistently better protection against pre- and post-harvest diseases of Capsicum than penconazole, horticultural oil or surfactant. It is suggested that the bicarbonates could be used as part of an integrated pest management strategy.
