Effect of pre-harvest fungicidal sprays against stem end rot of mango fruits in storage caused by Botryodiplodia theobromae Pat. in Himachal Pradesh.

ABSTRACT :

During 1988 and 1990, 10-year-old trees of 3 mango cultivars were sprayed with 8 fungicides (carbendazim, thiabendazole, thiophanate-methyl, mancozeb, copper oxychloride, aureofungin, Bordeaux mixture and benomyl) in Himachal Pradesh, India. Carbendazim reduced decay by 94.7, 92 and 84.3% in cultivars Dashehari, Langra and Alphonso, respectively. The next most effective treatment was Bordeaux mixture, followed by aureofungin. Alphonso was the most susceptible cultivar to the pathogen and the fungicides were least effective in controlling the disease on this cultivar.
