Response of tropical horticultural commodities to insect disinfestation treatments.

ABSTRACT :

 

Methods of eradicating postharvest insect infestations of tropical fruits and vegetables (frequently for quarantine purposes), including irradiation, heat, cold, controlled atmospheres, and (briefly) reduced pressure and washing, are reviewed. Emphasis is given to the effects on the commodities of the different treatments.
