ABSTRACT :
The dynamics of wilting were studied at 22-26 deg C and 60-65% RH, in Narcissus cultivars Golden Harvest and Carlton, tulip cv. Appledorn and Syringa cv. Descartes, placed in water immediately after cutting or after 1 or 2 days wilting without water. The daffodils and tulips, after 1 day of wilting, partially regained freshness in water but after 2 days wilting was irreversible. Correlations between length of postharvest wilting, weight loss percentage and vase life were highly significant. Syringa flowers placed immediately in water lasted less than a day.
