Soil solarization.

ABSTRACT :

 

Factors affecting the efficiency of soil solarization, including temp., moisture, light intensity, plastic film characteristics and edaphic factors; the direct and indirect effects on plant organisms; the duration of the effect of soil solarization and the effects of integrated control methods on various pathogenic fungi and bacteria are considered. Methods of application of soil solarization under field, greenhouse and postharvest conditions; chemical and biological changes in soil resulting from solarization; benefits, limitations, economic aspects and areas for improvement are reviewed.
