บทคัดย่อ

An additional character for sexing the adults of the dried bean beetle Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae).

ABSTRACT :

 

In observations in the laboratory, it was noted that Acanthoscelides obtectus shows sexual dimorphism in the pubescence of the pygidium. Males had comparatively sparse grey or white and more or less even pubescence revealing the brown cuticle of the pygidium. The pubescence of the female pygidium was slightly denser laterally and in the middle, leaving 2 narrow bands or 4 small patches of brown cuticle more exposed than the rest.
