ABSTRACT :
Rose and gypsophila flowers were hydrated in solutions of different pH. STS was used in the case of gypsophila. After a period of simulated transport, the stems were recut and the flowers placed in tap water. Flower opening was monitored for 7-15 days. There was no clear and consistent relationship between the pH of the postharvest hydrating solution and flower opening.
