State of postharvest systems in Spain.

ABSTRACT :

 

Improvements in terms of quality control and innovations in postharvest technology (electronic applications, sorting and grading techniques, packing, damage reduction, and precooling techniques) adopted in recent years in Spain are described. The importance attached to quality control at all stages of fruit and vegetable production and the employment of postharvest specialists in commercial firms are cited as 2 important improvements.
