ABSTRACT :

 

Plantain production in Ghana, including regional statistics, constraints (such as pests, diseases, weeds, declining soil fertility, poor technology and planting materials, costs, wind damage, drought stress and postharvest spoilage), cropping systems, cultivars grown and postharvest systems, is discussed. This paper was written for the plantain and banana research and technology training course held in Onne, Nigeria from 17 Oct. to 19 Nov. 1993.
